Short Term Medical plans are great for bridging the gap between plans or to Medicare for 3-12 months

Short Term Medical Overview

Short Term Medical plans serve a very specific purpose: helping you bridge the gap between plans or when you are transitioning out of one plan and into Medicare. Our Short Term Medical plans all provide comprehensive medical coverage for doctors, hospitals, clinics, surgeries, and more. All of our plans offer nationwide PPO networks. We offer these plans from several different carriers so it’s best to reach out to us for a quote in order to find the best plan available in your state. These plans are medically underwritten, do not cover pre-existing medical conditions, and depending on your state can cover you for as little as 90 days or as much as 12 months (with the option to renew 2 more 12 month terms in a few states). You choose your plan deductible and coinsurance. Since these plans are limited term plans they are generally lower cost than ACA plans and TriTerm plans.

Who are Short Term Medical plans best for?

Because of their limited terms of coverage Short Term Medical plans are best for healthy nomads and families who want a good plan to protect against illness and injury claims for a short period of time. Did you recently retire? Are you moving to a new state? Launching a new nomadic lifestyle and not sure which state you will domicile in? Just need something to cover you until you reach Medicare eligibility? Buy yourself some time with a Short Term Medical plan.

Some of our clients have enrolled in a Short Term Medical plan strategically in order to gain nationwide coverage at a reasonable cost. This strategy has worked well for those that can get coverage for 12 months and renew it 1 or 2 times. Many states do not allow that though. If you want coverage for more than 12 months Consider TriTerm Medical instead, which is a more robust Short Term Medical plan that you can keep for almost 3 years.
